Tours from Dömsöd

Start from Dömsöd there are numerous magnificent routes

The tours greatest part can be done on foot, by bike or horse ride.

There are roads on the both side of the Danube branch of Ráckeve with a little traffic. It means you are able to go along the riverside under the shady trees roughly 50 kilometres. This is a flat countryside so you don’t have to overwork.

Next to the riverside you often can see many restaurants, buffets and picnic areas.

The stages/pontoons are private properties but if the owner is not there everybody can use them. After a big tour it’s a pleasant feeling to lay down on a stage right away the river and stretch your muscles.

The Danube branch of Ráckeve water quality is excellent here in Dömsöd. It is recommended for everyone to swim. (They examine the water quality continuously and they publish the information.)

Biking swimming, sunbathing on a stage is a beautiful mixture for the physical enjoyments.

1. Go around Somlyó Island                   

It’s good to go to north along the dead channel of Dömsöd but it worth to leave the road and go on a little trail on foot or by bike as close as it possible to the dead channel. If you look around carefully and patiently the untouched dead channel gives you innumerable rarity of nature.

At the end of the north side you reach Danube branch of Ráckeve and you can relax here at the riverside. Then you can come back on the weekend house resort to your starting point, the Petőfi tree.

2. Dömsöd-Szigetbecse-Ráckeve Dömsöd                   

We recommend this for a bicycle tour. Use Dömsöd’s ferry. At the other side of the Danube you should go next to the river. The 3 metres wide little dirt road is public domain between the weekend houses and the water. The weekend houses owners not always happy with the walkers. Don’t let it get you down the view is going to satisfy the brave hikers.

It’s good to relax, drink and eat a little bit in Ráckeve than start back cross the bridge.

3. Dömsöd-Szigetbecse-Tass-Dömsöd                        

You can start this tour just like the other. Use Dömsöd’s ferry but at the other side of the Danube turn south. Go along right away next to the river Danube between the weekend houses and the water. You are going to have a nice and pleasant tour.

If you reach Tass eat, drink and relax next to the Kiskunság Watering channel’s wooden bridge. Then go north on the riverside road till Dömsöd’s Centrum.

4. Dömsöd-Tass                                 

You can take this tour easily on foot or by bike. You don’t have to pay attention; you can’t miss the way just go south along the Danube.

Your travelling companion will be the closely built different architecture style weekend houses and the Danube.
